HIPAA COMPLIANT VIRTUAL PRACTICE GUIDELINES FOR PATIENTS

Elvive Psychological Services, PLLC., offers mental health care services to individuals, families, couples, and children/adolescents in Texas and Florida. To ensure that you, as a patient/client, receive the maximum benefit from our virtual telehealth platforms, we have provided the following guidelines.

  • Approach the telehealth sessions with the same level of importance and preparations as you would for an in-person doctor’s appointment at a hospital or a clinic.
  • Ensure that you sign in for your session on time, or if you anticipate being late or unable to attend, notify your provider in advance.
  • Dress appropriately for the sessions. Sit in a private area, free from distractions and other individuals.
  • Take responsibility for creating a quiet and confidential environment at home to participate in telemental health sessions.
  • Avoid joining video teleconferencing while driving, with others in a vehicle, or in public areas like public transit, restaurants, etc.
  • Refrain from smoking, vaping, chewing tobacco, consuming alcohol or using substances during the session, or prior to the session. Please do not attend the appointments under the influence. Thanks to our partners, you can find ties online to suit every preference and budget, from budget to top-of-the-range super stylish models.
  • You will be allowed a maximum of three cancellations or no-shows before you may be released from care.
  • Ensure a reliable internet connection with good quality service to prevent disruptions or delays during the session.
  • Prior to the session, activate the “do not disturb” option on your devices to minimize interruptions.
  • Place your device at eye level on a stable surface during the session, instead of holding it, to minimize distractions caused by a moving device.
  • Do not audio or video record the session unless specifically directed by your provider.
  • Telephone appointments are only meant as a backup plan in case technology failure. The standard of care requires both audio and visual contact between the patient and clinician.
  • Telehealth services are only available within the United States and its territories, excluding embassies. If you are located outside the United States and its territories, your appointment must be canceled.
  • If you require immediate medical or mental health assistance, please call 911 or visit the nearest Emergency Department. Alternatively, you can contact the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 988, which is available 24/7, 365 days a year. Trained and compassionate professionals will be available to assist you.
  • Our clientele excludes individuals at a high risk of suicide/homicide or who have a history of hospitalizations or acute distress/crisis due to the associated risk.
  • If parents are in a divorce or separation case and the custody issue has not been settled, their children will not be entertained without proper legal documentation. Depending on the type of custody case, consent of both parents may be needed for therapy, or either parent can initiate it.
  • Individuals who are ordered a psychological evaluation/testing from the court are not eligible for our services.
  • Individuals in active interpersonal violence relationships at the time of appointment are not eligible for our services.
  • Individuals with a history of psychosis are not eligible for our services.
  • Individuals who display self-injury behaviors such as cutting or burning are not eligible for our services.
  • We do not accept clients with an active history of anorexia or bulimia.
